Since 1959, the M61 Vulcan and its derivatives is a 20mm 6-barrel Gatling-style rotary cannon that has been in service in many United States military aircraft through several wars. It fires standard M50 ammunition at 6,000 rounds per minute and is integral part of the armament of modern fighters such as the F-15, F-18, and F-16.

Built upon the M61 Vulcan’s reputation of speed, power, and versatility, the SOG Vulcan is also formidable with a powerful strength of construction. There is nothing weak about the Vulcan. For instance, our patented Arc-Lock™ can hold over 1000 lbs. of force. The full steel liners encased in glass reinforced nylon (GRN) handles give the knife rigidity and durability. The Vulcan Mini’s blade is a full .125" thick and includes a double thumb stud and kick for quick, ambidextrous deployment and use. Combining the usability and construction of the knife with a durable VG-10 stainless steel blade make this folder a great addition to the Vulcan name.

Field & Stream "2008 Best of the Best"

SOG is proud to announce the selection of the Vulcan Mini as Field & Stream's "2008 Best of the Best" for BEST UTILITY KNIFE!

Excerpt from Field & Stream Magazine: "You can get the Vulcan so sharp it will make your hair stand on end, and the edge will stay that way. Come to think of it, your hair may stay that way too."

Customer Ratings & Reviews

Vulcan Mini - Clam Pack is rated 4.6154 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome knife for EDC I own both the full-size Vulcan, and the mini in satin, clip point. Both are excellent knives. Sharpens easily, holds an edge, love the locking system, quick to open. I've been carrying the mini Vulcan for about 3 years now as an everyday carry knife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Durability Under Hard Use I bought this knife about 4 or 5 years ago. I have used and abused it constantly in that time and the only thing to take damage is the pocket clip. I have broken the pocket clip 3 or 4 times now. One of the many reasons I love this knife is how deep in the pocket it sits, but the pocket clip lifts up at the end in such a way that it very easily gets caught on things. A little bending is no problem; a few minutes with pliers and I can get it back into shape. Unfortunately the clip can only do that so many times before it snaps off due to stress. The clip might be a bit of a con to the item, but SOG's support team has always been incredibly helpful. They will send out a new clip no questions asked within a couple of days. Everything else has carried on without a problem. The blade has never chipped, the handle scales are fantastically grippy with great contours, it opens buttery smooth with the flipper or thumb studs, and the blade shape lets it cut through just about anything. All this in a size that makes it legal to carry just about anywhere. Everything I could ask for in a knife with the very small exception of the pocket clip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied I've been using this knife as my EDC for about 5 months and I love it. It sits very comfortably in the pocket, you really never know its there, at least I don't. The lock on the knife makes for extremely easy one-handed use, definitely my favorite part (Great for shotgunning beers). Frankly, I would give a 6/5 for ease of use. Literally exceeding my expectations every time I use it. The blade has stayed sharp for as long as I have it and the action of the knife hasn't slowed or become bogged down. There is absolutely no play in the blade too, its very locked in place. I am extremely satisfied with this product. The only issues I have are with it's overall size and the clip. Its very large and intimidating when open, I've noticed some people look at me funny when I use it. Not a big deal, but the mini could make a better EDC for some people, especially those with small hands. Additionally, my clip gets caught on stuff where it flares out. I've bent it quite a few times. Fortunately I have a screwdriver bit that will fits so I can take it out and bend it back into shape. Also, not a big deal to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I just bought this exact same knife at a gun show and its perfect. Due to a nerve disorder I don't have 100% use of my fingers yet I can flip this knife open like a pro and no problem closing it. Awesome blade, light and feels good in my hands!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What a difference good steel makes Bought this knife a couple of weeks ago. It's scary sharp right out the box. You can really tell a difference with the higher quality VG-10 steel. From what I hear, it holds a great edge, but only time will tell. It feels good in my hand. I read a ton of reviews before making the purchase and heard others complain about weight. Now this is my first "high-end" EDC, but I didn't think weight was an issue at all. Feels lightweight enough for me. I also had it engraved. Totally worth it. My only complaint is the clip. It's fallen out of my pocket on 3 separate occasions. It's only been a couple of weeks, so I just need to dial it in. Fingers crossed I don't lose it before that happens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mini Vulcan Picked up a mini Vulcan a month ago and regret it. I wanted the regular sized Vulcan but they're out of stock, like the other three or four I want to purchase. Now that I have it I've learned a $130 lesson, don't buy the mini. It doesn't fit my hand worth a darn. Guess I have a nice, small letter opener for the Mrs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Blade play, nylon? bushing, uncomfortable to hold Blade play in all directions, unless you tighten the screw to the point it will not flip open. I have a $30 knife from a competitor that has ball bearings and the finger flipper is as responsive as an assisted opener. Things jabbing your hand, especially when closed and an over sized and intrusive pocket clip. The handle is hard and prickly. Had to grind off part of the blade where the gimping is so to make it somewhat comfortable to hold when using it. I have a SOG Kiku and really like it, so I am not just bashing SOG. Wish I could get my money back!
