    SOG Assisted Technology

    SOG Assisted Technology

SOG Assisted Technology (S.A.T.) works through the balance of opposing high-tension coil springs. As you initiate the opening action, the force propelling your blade open becomes greater than the force keeping it closed. The result is a blade that springs open instantly once it is engaged, seemingly on its own.

Customer Ratings & Reviews

Flash II Tanto is rated 4.8286 out of 5 by 105.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from well designed/poor warranty I have had the Flash II for less than a year. I carry it 60% of the time. I love the design and action of this knife. It is light, smooth, and extremely fast. It holds an edge forever. The only complaint I have is that my blade is chipping about a half inch from the tip. Customer service informed me that chipped blades are not covered by warranty. I haven't cut anything that should have caused the blade to chip. Overall it's a great knife. There are better warranties though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice First and foremost, I love the inconspicuous clip. And the clip may be reversed for left or right side draw. Locating the clip at the BACK of the handle creates a natural grasp from the draw. Second, the assist is quick and easy, especially if you choose to remove the "safety". The fact that it is user-removable is a bonus! The blade steel holds an edge well. Overall I am very happy with this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it. I like the end of handle clip. Inconspicuous in the pocket. One of the easiest opening knives I have owned. Just a flick of the thumb straight forward does the job. The release on the side of the handle is great for one handed closing. Light weight makes it nice to carry everyday.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tested for over a year Overall, this is one of the best knives I have owned for EDC. Its assisted opening feature is something that sets it apart from other products and now its spoiled me. The overall feel of the knife is solid, with the handle fitting my hand well (which is nice considering my hands are pretty large). Another review said its difficult to draw with it clipped in your pocket, but i disagree with this statement. If anything, the raised end of the clip makes it easier to draw by simply catching your middle finger on the clip and basically flinging it out of your pocket. Takes practice but easy once you get it down. The blade has some play (expected when dealing with assisted opening knives since they have to have some space to move) but not enough to bother anyone. My only dislike is the fact that I purchased this knife with a tanto blade. Although it looks fantastic, it is horrible to sharpen on a stone or even with files. Eventually, that nice angle it has goes away due to heavy sharpening. I now know to go with a more traditional blade style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall great knife Lightweight, extremely sharp knife with a fantastically quick opening mechanism. Although not a negative, I was surprised at how the knife is deployed when drawing from a pocket. If you can imagine gripping the clip within your pocket with the back of your hand facing forward, when drawing the knife you must rotate your hand so that the palm of your hand is now facing forward. At this point, your thumb will naturally be on the deployment stud. This is not a negative and may in fact be more efficient - although it was unexpected. Lastly, the clip is extremely sturdy and holds the knife in your pocket well. However, I have found that it is difficult to draw. A tradeoff between stability and quickness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great knife and outstanding customer service Thank you SOG for the amazing customer service! It is rare to come across a company with this level of service and integrity. So thanks! I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman who helped me with my order. He was extremely attentive and courteous, made sure to personally walk my order in to ensure it was engraved quickly and delivered promptly (I was on a time crunch as it was the week before Christmas and a last minute present), and even followed up with me. Truly a 3 day delivery, across the country, and right before Christmas! The knife is super sharp and durable. My boyfriend loves it!! Awesome knife and wonderful customer service. Highly recommend the Flash II Tanto and SOG.

Pocket clips can be broken if they are accidentally caught on foreign objects while wearing. To help prevent such occurrences, SOG recommends that you wear your knife in your front pocket, with the knife inside your pocket. If, for whatever reason, your clip bends or breaks and you would like to receive a replacement, fill out the Clip Request Form, or email/call SOG's warranty department. Damage to a knife handle because a clip has snagged is not considered "normal," and any such damage will be assessed under warranty. Learn more about replacing pocket clips in Knife & Tool Care.
